That Raymond Chen

If you read Raymond Chen's The Old New Thing you know that old Raymond knows almost everything there is to know about Windows. He really does. There's just one thing he needs - perspective. He needs to take a sabbatical and go work somewhere that doesn't use Windows. This would teach him what it's like to start from scratch with something new. This is what he routinely forgets in his postings, and is something he badly needs to know.

How To Talk Internet

I don’t like to listen to people talking about the Internet, but not for the usual reasons. What bothers me is that it all starts to sound the same. “blog”, “www”, … over and over again, like a big echo chamber. So, I’ve chosen not to pronounce these words like everybody else. For me, “blog” is “bee log”, “www” is “wa wa wa”, and so on. You get the idea. I’m sure there are other, maybe better, examples. So, like they say in Rap concerts, “let’s make some noise out there” but let’s do it our way.
